Launched in 2017 by Founder & Creative Director Adiatou Conteh.DARAJA is an Award-winning Bespoke Handbag Brand/Concept Boutique that focuses on high-quality, modern styles with an African Touch. Handcrafted in Gambia and Senegal, using the best Halal Sheep and Goatskin leathers while adopting a no-waste approach. DARAJA creates bags in styles that maintain the core of African Fashion characterised by bright exuberant colours.

We specialize in production and retail, while also creating sustainable jobs within West Africa. When you purchase an item from Daraja you are actively supporting and making a difference towards the artisanal community. We work directly with Artisans in the Gambia & Senegal and buy locally tanned leather, supporting a group of women that manually process the majority of the leather used to produce our bags. Our aim is to enable the local artisans to not just rely on tourist season, but have production all year round.

Our Concept store is based in The Gambia, located on the New Kololi Hwy Senegambia.
